This morning we woke up anchored in a beautiful bay with huge chunks of ice floating by us near the LeConte Glacier. In fact, one of the first things we saw was a bald eagle sitting on one of the chunks of ice. I managed to snag my camera in time to get a good photo.

After the excitement of seeing an eagle on a chunk of ice (not that we haven’t seen a billion bald eagles already), it was time for breakfast. It was Spanish Tortilla today with their awesome bacon… I love bacon, but their bacon is really good.

After breakfast I went on the zodiac tour to get a closer look at the big chunks of ice floating in the water. While on the tour we also saw a Sitka deer, harbor seal and a bunch of white winged Scoters (bird). The guide picked up a chunk of ice and it was crystal clear…. not something you can make in your freezer for sure. The chunks of ice came in different interesting shapes… I swear one looked like an elephant with a cannon…
Away we go… Thise piece even has a hole in it crystal clear…
After the tour I had some time before lunch to take some more pictures from the ship. One of the guides also brought back some ice to use in cocktails…

It was finally time for lunch. Today they made us chicken gyros. It was good, but I still prefer the lamb version better. No complaints. The falafel was amazing.

While we were eating lunch the crew moved the ship to Thomas Bay.
Very shortly after lunch it was time to go on the “cascade walk” which was a very brief hike up to what most people would call a waterfall, although it wasn’t too tall. It was quite nice and without much effort. Unfortunately I tripped and the GoPro I had mounted moved and I didn’t get the video footage I wanted while hiking. I also forgot the neutral density filter for my camera even though I brought my tripod, so I wasn’t able to get the nice long exposure picture I wanted, however we didn’t really have much time to set all my photography stuff up. I got some videos of the cascade with the camera and phone, and that is quite enjoyable to watch.

Since I was on the first cascade walk I had time to participate in the “open paddle”, which basically means you can take a kayak and paddle around in a certain area. Obviously not as far as we go on the guided kayaks (where I was very glad we had a guide because I had no idea where the ship was or how to get back to it).

Back on the ship it was time to enjoy the hot tub a little more. It’s always pleasant, but even more so when the ship is anchored. I took a few more pictures from the ship before dinner.
It was now time for the best part of the day – dinner time. The choices were lamb or prawns (shrimp) and some delicious bread. The pastry chef is awesome.

After dinner one of the guides gave a presentation on edible plants…obviously all plants are edible once, but it’s important to know if you can live long enough to eat it more than once…
I took a few more photos while we were cruising to our next destination and of course we had another beautiful sunset.
After sunset we spotted another whale and some porpoises. The light was so low my camera refused to focus, so I just enjoyed seeing them and attempted to get a photo with the phone.
