This morning I woke up to the same foggy mess that Seward had yesterday. I was hoping it would clear up by the time we arrived at Hubbard Glacier.
I did the behind the scenes tour in the morning. The first stop was the theater.
The next stop on the behind the scenes tour was the guest laundry. They have massive washing machines – and fancy machines that perfectly fold pool towels and linen.
The next stop was one of the galleys. Shiny stainless steel everywhere.
After the tour I checked out the fruit carving briefly. The guy was very talented.
I had lunch in the main dining room today.
I started with the chicken noodle soup and tried the chicken quesadilla and tuna melt.
For dessert I had the five spice mango tapioca pudding.
We finally arrived at Hubbard Glacier and it looked like maybe we would be able to see it.
Looking in the direction of the glacier it didn’t look too great.
The rich kids got on their little boat ($399 a person in case you were wondering)
The ship started to move towards the glacier. The Norwegian Sun was leaving and we passed the Seabourn ship.
This is about when things went sideways. The ship literally went through a cloud, it was raining and unpleasant. You can maybe see the glacier if you use your imagination.
There were some people kayaking from the Seabourn ship, but they too had enough fun and got in their zodiac and zipped back to their ship.
And the weather just got worse from there. In fact the ship didn’t even make an attempt to get close to the glacier today. We just sat and waited for the rich kids to get back from their little ship.
I too eventually gave up and put my camera gear away. The experience made me appreciate how lucky I was to see Hubbard Glacier the first week.
I had dinner at Le Bistro tonight.
I started with escargot and onion soup.
For my main I decided to try the duck.
And of course I saved room for dessert….
This time I tried the wine poached pear. It was pretty good. They pour chocolate sauce on top of it at the table.
