I didn’t wake up quite as early as I was planning, but I was out at 9 AM.
I first visited the library next to my hotel. It has a very interesting design and was worth a few minutes, although I doubt it would be worth going too far out of the way to see it.
I passed by one of the trams on the way to the Porsche museum.
Next stop, the Porsche museum which was closed yesterday.
Porsche had a special exhibit and motif celebrating 75 years.
I bought a ticket – 10 Euro.
I took well over 400 pictures today so I will be selective. The first car was actually electric.

Apparently the roof weighed too much on this 908 race car.
Porsche 917 race car.
Apparently this is a really famous race car. It was so wide it wouldn’t fit inside a hauler and someone at the track called it a fat pig, so the race team found a butcher and painted the lines and parts of the pig on it.
A special 917 driven by one of my heroes – Mark Donohue. If you can find it, the book The Unfair Advantage is very good.

After I left the Porsche museum I drove to the south to Burg Hohenzollern (Hohenzollern Castle).
There is a car park at the base of the hill. The shuttle bus is included in the price of the ticket, or you can hike if you wish. I took the easy way and used the shuttle bus up the hill.
The entrance to the castle was a unique spiral that was designed for protection.

I stayed until closing time and decided to let gravity do the work for me and hike down the hill. I captered a couple of nice shots along the way.
On the way down the road I stopped to take a couple more photos before continuing on my journey.
Next stop Mainz – the AC Hotel in Mainz next to the train station.
The room was nice and I did get kind of a sunset photo.
