Today was the first day with unfavorable weather. It was rainy, but not too cold.
Today’s onboard activities:
Because of the weather and poor visibility I didn’t set up a time lapse of the arrival this morning. I took a few photos from the ship after it docked.
I was conflicted whether I should take a train to Japan and duplicate some of my past travel or just wander around Yokohama some more.
Since it was a rainy, dreary day I decided to just walk around Yokohama.
Unfortunately the Nissan museum was closed on Sundays, so I headed to the zoo in yokohama. I left the ship about 7:30 AM and the zoo didn’t open until 9:30 AM so I had more than enough time to walk.
I walked along a small river and up a hill to the park and went to the observation deck for a while to wait for the zoo to open.
The observation deck was nice, but nothing spectacular to justify installing it in the park.
When the zoo opened I wandered about and found a bunch of Japanese and other animals.
One of the first animals I found was a Japanese black bear. They actually had two.
There was a Polar bear enclosure, but they haven’t had one since 1999. It was allowed to enter the area the animal trainer went to clean the enclosure.
Among the other animals were giraffe, zebra, racoon dog (Japanese), wallaby and red panda. They even had mice which were interesting to watch. They kept going in and out of small holes in little houses.

After visiting the zoo I walked down toward the Cup Noodles museum and passed by an interesting church.
I stumbled upon one of the old dry docks by Hard Rock Cafe. It was really interesting to be able to walk down into the dry dock.
The Cup Noodles museum was 500 Yen and I really didn’t consider it being worth 500 Yen so I continued to the Customs house museum. I took a few more photos along the way.
There was a park where you could rent a barbeque to grill your own food…
The customs house museum was very small, but free. I was surprised how good counterfeit goods looked.
At this point it was really raining, so I walked to the ship.
It was very easy to walk back into the ship being in transit. I was only behind the cruise director to go through the metal detector.
Once onboard I didn’t even go to my cabin, I sat down in Crooners bar to dry off and have a colortini and some food.
I actually managed to see the sake ceremony this time and they gave out free sake (in case I needed more than 15 drinks).
The weather was just so bad that you couldn’t even see the top of landmark tower. I decided not to put the GoPro outside for the Sailaway.
I did enjoy the sailaway from Skywalkers and got a short video while going under the Yokohama bay bridge.
I had dinner in the Santa Fe main dining room. I had the Pork Tonkatsu for my main and the baked potato soup for my starter.
I had a scoop of butter pecan and the souffle for dessert.
I relaxed a bit in the lounge before calling it an early night.
