I wasn’t feeling a 100% – I caught a cold from the 50% of the people on the ship who have been hacking up a lung. I guess alcohol doesn’t actually prevent you from getting sick, because lord knows I drank my share on this trip. I took the opportunity to rest a little this morning before getting up. I knew the most scenic portion of today’s cruising would be in the afternoon when the ship goes through the narrow part of the inside passage.
As I was really not feeling well lunch consisted of three flavors of Jell-o (sorry, no photo).
I did enjoy the scenery from outside on Deck 13. The Disney Wonder ship was following us.
When we got close to the narrow section I saw a whale. I even managed to get a picture of it’s tail. It didn’t breached, but I was pleased that I didn’t need to spend $200 to go on a whale watch – I just needed to pay attention from the ship.
The inside passage was really beautiful. I am glad I finally got to see it as the northbound journeys pass though in the dark.
At around sunset the ship needed to wait for a medical evacuation. I noticed they lowered a life boat and must have used it to get the people to the little town. If it was that dramatic they must have also ordered a helicopter from Vancouver. I did manage to take a few nice photos of the sunset before dinner.
I had dinner at Cagney’s tonight.
Since I had a cold I decided to have the baked onion soup to start despite the fact that it has been very salty on this ship. And when I got it I found Harry Sommer stole my cheese again! The cheese bandits are loose on NCL yet again.
I ordered the Filet Mignon medium rare since the others have come out a little more done than usual. It was a bit rare for my taste and well the flavor also seemed off, but that could be due to my cold. I also got a side of onion rings which were good.
Time for dessert…
I had the warm blueberry oatmeal crisp – with some extra ice cream. The ice cream is the best part, very smooth. My table mate ordered the OMG Caramel Butterscotch Cheesecake.
