arnival Youth Programs are open for children and teens ages 6 months to 17 years. All youth must be registered to participate; registration should be completed pre-cruise. During some cruises, capacity may be limited. Drop off times for children under 2 can also be viewed in the HUB App (fees apply). Some activities may not be offered.
On a Carnival cruise, kids can enjoy all the best parts of summer camp and family vacation, all in one!
Camp Ocean
- Turtles: Infants under 2
- Penguins: Ages 2-5
- Stingrays: Ages 6-8
- Sharks: Ages 9-11
- Circle “C”: Ages 12-14
- Club O2: Ages 15-17
Our Youth Programs are year-round, fleet wide programs that provide daily fun filled and age appropriate activities for children and teenagers between the ages of 2 to 17. In addition, there is supervised ‘free play’ and Night Owls services for those children 11 years and under.
Age Policy
Carnival’s policy is to group children together according to their age. The age is determined according to the child’s birth date.
Our Youth Programs age policies are in place so that we can provide participants with age appropriate activities and so they can socialize with other minors of similar age. The age is determined according to the child’s birth date which is provided from documentation received at embarkation.
A child cannot be moved to another age group as it is a strict policy set by Carnival and cannot be deviated from, regardless of the situation, such as moving into a camp of different age range so the child can be with a family member. There are many times that the different age groups are together so that those families with children in separate groups can be accommodated.
Carnival reserves the right to change the groups’ age limits and to deny admission to a child for unruly behavior and/or the child’s or guardian’s violation of a Carnival or Youth Programs policy.
Pre-Registration Online
Families can register online under their booking – Youth Registration – for Under 2, Camp Ocean, Circle “C” and Club O2 before they start their cruise. By pre-registering, children and teens (6 months to 17 years of age) are able to participate in their respective youth programs once they arrive on board. Registering in no way obligates them to participate in any of the activities. Medical care consent is required for participating in Carnival Youth Programs.
Youth Programs Open House – Embarkation Day
The Youth Programs Open House is held in the youth facility spaces to give the parents as well as the children/teens a chance to become familiar with the activity based program, policies and procedures. The parents and children/teens also get the opportunity to see youth spaces and meet the Youth Staff. Open House starts at the same time as embarkation until the Safety Briefing. Time and place is listed in the Carnival ‘Fun Times’ newsletter, Youth Activity Schedules and the FunHub App. Ships may vary due to itineraries.
Youth Staff
Staffing depends on the ship capacity, the itinerary and the time of year. All of our Youth Staff have to meet important educational and professional requirements, as well as pass an extensive background check. All Youth Staff is either college educated in education, child psychology or youth recreation – OR – has extensive professional experience with children, such as teaching, coaching or daycare. The Youth Staff are international and all are certified in CPR and are able to provide basic first aid. Additionally, should there be a medical emergency, all Youth Staff are instructed to contact the parent/guardian immediately as well as the shipboard Medical Center.
Leaving Children On Board While in Port
If parent/guardian decide to leave their children in the care of the Youth Staff while in port, they can! They should let us know if they are going on a Carnival shore excursion or going to explore the port on their own. In case of an emergency, the Youth Staff can contact the appropriate Tour Operator who will inform the parent/guardian to return to the ship. For non-Carnival tours, the Youth Staff will not have a way to contact the guests in case of emergency, however the parent/guardian will be notified immediately when back on board.
Getting Off the Ship in Port
Minor children 16 years of age and older may debark the ship in port without a parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian wishes to raise this age limit, they must contact the onboard Security department.
Minor children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older) within the same travel group in order to debark the ship in port.
