This morning we arrived in Phu My, Vietnam. This is the port for Saigon (aka Ho Chi Minh City), however since I have visited Saigon before I decided to visit the Cu Chi tunnels.

The bus ride to the tunnels took us through Saigon, so the trip was over 3 hours each way.

Once we arrived at the tunnels we saw a demonstration of how the Vietnamese climbed into the tunnels – I certainly wasn’t going to fit in the hole. I made a video with my phone.

They showed us some of the traps they had set up.

We were able to go into one of the ‘Americanized tunnels’. I tried to take a video, but apparently it was too dark for the video. The tunnels were made twice as big so the tourists wouldn’t get stuck.

We walked by the area they have with the documentary video on the tunnels (I guess we were short on time).
The next stop was a local restaurant for a couple of spring rolls and some Pho. The Pho was good, but it is better in Houston.

The ride back was another 3 hours to the ship.

I had dinner at la Cucina tonight. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara for my starter and the T-bone for the main. I wasn’t that impressed with the T-Bone. For dessert I had the Chocolate Tartlet which was just too rich for my taste.
