Today is my first day on land since boarding the ship.
I chose the Taeri Gorge Train and Dunedin Highlights tour. The weather didn’t cooperate today, it was chilly, rainy and a bit foggy. I walked onto the train from the ship. There were a few outside areas between the cars that allowed for better photos.
After the train ride I was supposed to get a tour of the highlights of Dunedin, but instead we got a bus driver (no tour guide) with a bad mic (could hear more of the engine than the driver), he made no attempt to tell us about the city, except for the world’s steepest road (which had a sign). We were driven to the botanical garden and told we could walk around for 10-15 minutes, which wouldn’t be enough time to see more than the entrance to the garden. We went back to the train station inside of the garden by request of one of the guests which was nice because of several nice buildings in the area.
The driver then took us to the Otago museum, we only had 20 minutes in the museum and I saw some of the Moa skeletons.
After the museum the driver took us back to the ship.
I made a time lapse video of the departure. I didn’t get to see any Albatrosses close, but could see a couple flying near land.
Tonight’s dinner… French onion soup, Escargot, steak and creme brulee.
