This morning we explored Basel. We went to the city gate first via tram.
We then walked around the area and found the Rathaus (City Hall). The building stood out from all the others because of it’s color and decoration.
We then walked to the Basel Gothic church.
We used our Swiss Travel Pass for free entry to the Basel Museum of Culture (mostly to use the water closet, but did go through the entire museum).
At this point we took the tram back to the train station, went to the COOP grocery store then got the luggage that we had the train system transport from the Zurich airport when we arrived, took the tram back to the hotel to get the luggage we had there, repacked and took the tram to the ship. We arrived at 3 PM which was the embarkation time. There was a line, but the check in procedure was very quick.
I unpacked and took some photos of the room. The room was quite large and I had a view of the river on my side. The wardrobe area was quite large.
We walked back outside for a bit and came back for the safety briefing at 6 PM. They welcomed us with glasses of Champagne (which they even refilled). Dinner was at 7 PM and was very good. The included wine was quite good as well.
Appetizer was smoked salmon and spinach inside a pancake. It was delicious.
Chicken breast with fingerling potatoes for the main course.
Someone at our table had a birthday…
After dinner they had music in the lounge, but after days of self-inflicted abuse I needed to take rest. I woke up a couple of times to look out the window. The ship was going through some locks (I could see the wall out of the window).
