This morning we arrived in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We docked not too far from the central train station. There was an MSC ship docked at the port when we arrived. It left shortly after 9:00 AM.
Our included tour started with a bus tour of the city. We had a short walk where the guide showed some points of interest.
We then took a canal boat tour that lasted about an hour. They took us back to the ship and we had lunch.
After lunch they had a few shuttles to the train station.
We bought a 24 hour metro pass and went to a park near the museums. It was filled with people. Apparently it was the first day they saw the sun in 2 1/2 weeks…. We went to find the small secret church near the Amsterdam museum, but it was closed at 4:00 PM.
We walked through part of the red light district to get to the Oude Kerk. The church was massive and to my surprise the roof was made of wood. According to the information provided it was the oldest building in Amsterdam dating back to 1306…
We took the provided shuttle back to the ship. They had a farewell champagne social hour before dinner.
They had a wonderful beef tenderloin for dinner and baked Alaska for dessert.
