I’m mostly ready for my next fun trip – my first ocean cruise this year. I’ll be sailing on the NCL Epic on Sunday from Barcelona, Spain (or will it be Catalonia?).
My flight goes through IAD (Washington DC Dulles)
Itinerary is as follows:
Sunday Oct 22nd: Arrive in Barcelona, tour of La Sagrada Familia at 12:15, Depart Barcelona @ 1800
Monday Oct 23rd: Palma Mallorca, Spain – Plan to visit the cathedral and Bellver Castle via public transit and walking
Tuesday Oct 24th: Sea Day
Wednesday Oct 25th: Civitavecchia, Italy – Plan to take the 5 Euro train to Rome and visit the Coliseum
Thursday Oct 26th: Livorno, Italy – Small group tour of Cinque Terre
Friday Oct 27th: Cannes, France – Small group tour of the French Riviera and Monaco (Monte Carlo)
Saturday Oct 28th: Marseille, France – Plan to take a tour to Avignon, Palace of the Popes and Les Baux
Sunday Oct 29th: Return to Barcelona
Monday Oct 30th: Return flight home (through Frankfurt, hopefully will be able to fly through Newark, but does not look promising at the moment)
Preparations:
– Tours organized for Cinque Terre and French Riviera
– Reserved luggage transfer from airport to ship (10 Euro)
– Tickets purchased for entrance to La Sagrada Familia and Coliseum
– Parking spot reservation made
– Cruise documents and luggage tags printed
– Ordered (and received) new collapsible water bottles
– Ordered (and received) new carbon fiber gimbal head for tripod (this is really for the South Africa trip)
– Purchased gimbal for GoPro / Mobile phone for professional quality videos
Now that I am platinum on NCL I will get a free bag of laundry on the ship, so I will attempt to reduce the quantity of clothes I will bring with me.
