I arrived early on my flight from Houston, so I didn’t need to rush through the Schipol airport.
My flight to Hannover was on a puddle jumper, but I was only on it for about 45 minutes.
After arriving I got my luggage and walked to the train station… where you would expect to find a train, but I didn’t – only a platform with people waiting. I thought I was going to get the 10:36 train, but it never showed. The DB app said the 10:06 train was canceled due to a strike. I got on the 11:06 train, but it was delayed due to a passenger requiring medical attention. Eventually I made it to Hameln.
I dropped off my bags at the hotel – Mercure and started to explore the town and Christmas Market. Hameln is the town where the story about the Pied Piper supposedly happened. There are a lot of Pied Piper items around town including golden rats in the middle of the cobblestones.
Pictures of my hotel when I was able to check in.
I tried some glühwine before dinner at the Christmas Market. It was good, but not spectacular. For dinner I had hauxe, one of my favorite German foods.
