This morning I woke up and had breakfast, it was nice to have an American breakfast for a change. Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast. It was all good.
We started our adventure at 0900 with a bus tour of Budapest. The tour guide was great and gave us a lot of information. I was surprised we didn’t have any photo stops and some of the locations (like Hero’s Square), but it was still very nice. They brought us up to Castle Hill and she gave us some more information – one thing that I didn’t know was that there was still Labyrinths (caves) under the hill open. When they gave us an hour of free time we went to the Labyrinths. It was expensive, but still something different.
At lunch I charged my phone, so no pictures of the lunch, but it was good – beef goulash and pasta.
After lunch I took the tram to Margaret Island to check out the Japanese garden, but it wasn’t too impressive.
I took the metro up to Hero’s Square to take a few more photos, then walked down the Andrassy Street to look at the buildings. There are some really nice old buildings there.
I picked up my laundry (that should get me through the cruise – I hope) and then walked to a ruin pub, Szimpla Kert. Me and my friend had a total of 1200 HUF left – I was going to get large Pilsners, but the people who ordered before me were getting half foam, so I asked for two small wheat beers which added up to 1200 exactly… I thought it was interesting to have just the exact amount needed. We walked around a little and my friend found 5,000 HUF on the ground, so we went back to Szimpla Kert for a couple more beers.
I took the bus back to the ship, we went to the port talk at 1845, then dinner at 1900. Dinner as usual was very good. I had the chicken paprikash tonight.
