The annual Festive season trip is under way.
I was lucky enough to get round trip flights to Ithaca, NY for 29,500 miles yesterday, otherwise you’d be reading about a very long drive instead of the flights on United.
I left the house at 4:50 AM. I parked at Parking Spot 2 at 5:42 AM and quickly went through check-in and security. I was quite impressed that I was through security at 6:08.
With United’s partnership with Disney they changed the safety briefing with a lot of Star Wars clips.
The flight was uneventful, which is about the best thing you can say about flying United. I did get a stroopwaffel, which has enough calories for a family of 4. I watched a documentary about the Detroit Red Wings.
I have a reasonable layover in Washington. If I had a horribly long layover I would visit the Air and Space museum.
The moving trailer park didn’t start running until 11:30 AM, so I waited the 10 minutes to be transferred to the A terminals. There wasn’t much food in the area by my gate, so I decided to wait until my final destination.
After boarding and pushing back on time we proceeded to wait on the tarmac for an hour…. Yes in a small CRJ. Thanks United. The excuse was ATC and congestion. As if the FAA didn’t realize how many flights there were today because no one filed flight plans.
Time stamp is in local time. Captain turned on the engines at 1:58 PM.
