After finding out that the Yas 3000 (Formula 3000) cars were on the South Circuit of Yas Marina Circuit which goes under the Viceroy hotel I couldn’t resist signing up. I’ve driven these cars before, but on the North Circuit which has a hairpin turn. This time the South Circuit is much faster and flowing.
Keep an eye open at 12:30 and 14:30. The save at 12:30 was big – it looks like the car got maybe 30 degrees or more sideways. After looking at the video I am still wondering how I saved it… I guess my reflexes and experience gave me the right combination of things to do… It’s not like you get any time to think – you can only respond. I do remember getting off the brake which would have put weight back on the rear tires and helped it settle down.
