This morning I drove out to the Enchanted Rock to take some photos and videos with my drone. I parked outside the park since Texas doesn’t allow you to launch, land or operate the drone inside state parks, however only the FAA has the authority over airspace and I am allow to fly over the state park.

Most people who visit hike up to the top. I wasn’t convinced that the scenery justified hiking in the August heat, especially when my ‘aircraft’ was able to take pictures of the surrounding scenery as well as the enchanted rock itself.
After draining my drone batteries I returned to the hotel to let them charge while I went to the Old German Bakery Cafe for lunch. I had the beef and pork meatloaf which was covered in a brown gravy and served with pan fries. It was very good.

I took a couple of pictures of the Pioneer Library after lunch.

After lunch I went to the Pioneer Museum. The museum consisted of a number of different buildings and had audio in all of them as well as a short 12 minute video showing the history of Fredericksburg.

I briefly stopped at the back of the Museum of the Pacific War and took a couple of pictures of the submarine.

I escaped the heat for a little in the hotel before going back out with the drone to Cross Mountain. I don’t think the Texans ever saw a real mountain, because calling it a hill would be a stretch…. Again the drone kept me from having to hike up a hill….

After Cross Mountain I visited St. Mary’s church. I also got some drone footage there.

After St. Mary’s church I stopped at the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. It wasn’t open, but it looked nice on the outside and I got some more drone footage.

For dinner I went to the Silver Creek Beer Garden and Restaurant. I didn’t want a heavy meal like I had at lunch, so I had their pepperwurst sausage sandwich with french fries. It was very good and the right amount of food.

I was able to finish dinner in time to capture the sunset at the Vereins Kirche with the drone.

I was also able to have the drone pass up and down Main Street a couple of times before losing the light.
