2020 Hawaii Trip [Day 11 – O`ahu, Hawaii] ⋆ Superb Vacations

This morning I drove up to the north shore to Shark’s Cove to snorkel. The cove is very shallow, but the water was very clear and there were some fish. Further out the waves pushed me around quite a bit. In the summer it would be a great place to snorkel.

I drove across the north shore and stopped at Ken’s Fresh Fish for lunch. I got a Mahimahi with mango salsa and Ahi poke tacos. The Mahimahi was excellent.

I drove to Kualoa park and walked along the beach, but the weather conditions were not very suitable. There were a bunch of clouds and it started to rain.

I drove back to Waikiki and visited the Hawaii Army Museum. It actually had a bit of Hawaiian history despite the fort being built by the US government.

Come visit the U.S. Army Museum of Hawai’i. Admission is free, but donations are graciously accepted. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10am – 5pm.

The original gun is no longer on the second floor. It’s interesting how it hides itself after firing to assist in reloading and to protect the gun.

No, it’s not a toy tank, it’s a Japanese tank. It shows a lot of rust even though it’s been well painted.

The large hole in the bottom is for a pipe so that people can crawl into it safely without being seen

The turret can be rotated manually, and most of this is supposed to be buried in the ground.

I walked along the Fort Derussy Beach and got some nice photos of Diamond Head from the jetty as well as a seal.
