Breakfast was not until 7:30 AM, but I woke up at 5:00 to the beautiful scenery of the Misty Fjords National Monument Wilderness.
the view at about 5:41 AM… beautiful waterfalls stunning mirror like water owl face rock another waterfall yes the boat got this close
I set up the GoPro to take a time lapse while we were going through the scenic Rudyerd Bay. The water was so still it was like looking in a mirror. I’ve never seen such reflections, it was breathtaking.
Breakfast was Blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and breakfast potatoes. I made a sandwich with a toasted english muffin.

After breakfast while we were cruising between scenic areas they told us our activity choices for the afternoon while in Walker Cove. The activities to choose from are: Kayaking 101, 2 hour guided kayak or a skiff (zodiac) tour. I decided to do the Kayak 101 since it was the only opportunity and it would give me practice to kayak the rest of the week. After breakfast I enjoyed more of the scenic cruising back out of Rudyerd Bay.
We arrived at Walker Cove just before lunch.
Lunch was a delicious Bison chili with corn bread. Simple, but filling and provided enough energy for the afternoon kayaking. While we were enjoying lunch they described our activity choices for tomorrow. I decided to kayak in the morning and go on the skiff tour in the afternoon.

After lunch I participated in the Kayak 101 where they gave us instructions on how to use the rudder to steer the kayak as well as how to use the paddles to turn the kayak. It definitely was useful to have a refresher as it had been a while since I used a kayak. They have what they call an EZ Dock which allows for entry and exit from the kayak on a floating platform and they launch or retrieve us from the water. It makes it a very easy way to get in and out of the kayak.
exercise area & activity meeting area on 300 deck aft kayak launching platform aka EZ Dock the ship from the kayak yes, we went pretty far from the ship even in the introductory class one of the skiffs… or zodiacs
After kayaking I relaxed outside on the bow of the ship and enjoyed sailing away to the next destination.
Dinner was amazing tonight, Dungeness crab. I never had dungeness crab before and I don’t think I will ever have snow crab or king crab again. The stewards also wore silly crab hats… which I also want.

After dinner they gave a presentation on geology and the earthquakes in Alaska as it is part of the ring of fire.
There was some more beautiful scenery outside and the ship arrived at Yes Bay at about 8:32 PM (before sunset).
