This morning we anchored near a nice waterfall near Fords Terror. We had an earlier breakfast today because the zodiacs can only enter the area during the slack tide. In other times it turns into a class 3 rapid and is not safe to enter.
Breakfast this morning was breakfast sandwiches (english muffins), bacon and breakfast potatoes.

After breakfast we took the zodiac tour into Fords Terror. I can see why this area might be an issue, there is a very narrow entrance to it. Towards the end we saw a couple of brown bears – a momma and baby bear. I didn’t have my long lens again (although I wouldn’t have caught the nice rocky walls with a telephoto), but I can still see they are bears in my photos.
Nice shot of the ship with chunks of ice floating by and a mountain in the background inside Fords Terror brown bears you can see one of the zodiacs returning A good picture to see how big these pieces of ice are
After returning back I bought some souvenirs from the ship (hat and shirt combo and some patches) and made our payment for the tips.
Shortly afterward it was time for the polar plunge. Quite a few people took part in jumping in – including myself. The captain actually jumped in first despite him making a joke the night before when a guest asked him if he was going to jump in that “he never heard anything about the captain being the first one off the ship…”. I didn’t go in first because I wanted to get a couple of others on video and thought I would be freezing afterwards. When I did jump in I was under the water for a long time… much longer than the others. I suppose I should have done a cannon ball so I wouldn’t go so deep. In any case I managed to get a decent video with my GoPro in the slow-motion mode so I could see my expression.
When I got out of the water I actually felt warm and stayed back to video some more guests jumping in and then retreated to the hot tub.
It was now time again to eat, lunch time.
yes, it tasted as good as it looked.
We started to cruise again up towards Dawes Glacier, and along the way we saw seals (maybe they were sea lions, not sure) on the chunks of ice. Dawes Glacier was a great view and we could see a little calving into the water. We also passed by one of UnCruise Adventures smaller ships – the Safari Quest.

As it was the last night of the cruise it was time for the Captain’s dinner. The choice tonight was coho salmon or beef tenderloin. I decided to try both. It was delicious. As you can see the dessert was amazing as well.
another tasty salad beef tenderloin and coho salmon dessert (most of) the crew. I assume someone was still piloting the ship
We anchored at a place called wood spit, which is just near the entrance of Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm for the evening.
The crew had a slide show presentation of photos they took (of us) while on the cruise. It was pretty nice. Afterwards most people were hanging out on the bow of the ship for the sunset. It was beautiful weather (short sleeve shirt at 9:30PM was still comfortable).

After the sunset it was time to pack as I was disembarking tomorrow in Juneau. The trip isn’t over yet, but the cruise will be.
