This morning I took the bus to the Saxman Totem Park. The bus ride was pretty quick, but I wouldn’t recommend walking between it and town.

The Totem Park was deserted, which meant the $5 entrance fee was waived.

There were quite a few totems and a clanhouse at the park. I managed to get in a short flight with my drone before it briefly rained. Of course when the bus was about to arrive (only once an hour) the rain had stopped.

I took the bus back to the Creek Street area where the Tongass Historical Museum is.

The Tongass Historical Museum was a nice little museum (probably only worth the $3 extra when you buy the combination ticket), but still had a few interesting artifacts. Probably the best part was the information the museum attendant gave us about the cedar woven bowls and the fact that the Cape Fox Lodge also had some items on display. She actually said the weaving was so tight that they used the baskets and cups to hold water and to cook in (placing hot rocks from the fire into water to boil the water).

I walked around back of the museum to take a picture of the creek and then dropped off the drone at the hotel since it isn’t possible to fly in town.

I called the Cape Fox Lodge to confirm the tram wasn’t functional before needlessly climbing the hill for lunch. It is a very nice hotel, but in a bad location if the tram isn’t working. If the tram is working it’s fabulous as it goes right to the bottom of Creek Street.
For lunch I had miso salmon and beer batter fried salmon. I never had fried salmon before and it was quite good. The tartar sauce was also very good.

I walked around some of the exhibits as it had started to rain, luckily by the time I wanted to head back to town it stopped raining.

It was nearly 4:00 PM and it was time to get some last minute souvenir shopping in because most stores would be closed on Sunday. One actually said they would be open tomorrow because our ship was arriving.
Since sunset isn’t until nearly 10PM I rested a bit at the hotel before continuing the adventure.

I found one more totem wandering around Ketchikan.

I decided to head back to the 108 Tap House and Burger Bar to get the egg roll dessert that was filled with apple pie filling and vanilla ice cream…. It was delicious and big enough to be a meal by itself.
