I was running out of ideas of things to see in Boston, so I made the decision this morning to book a combination ticket of the aquarium with a whale watching tour. The whale watching tour started at 10:00 AM, but the instructions said to arrive at 9:30 AM. Well apparently everyone read the instructions because when I arrived at 9:30 AM there was a very long line waiting to board the boat.

The weather was beautiful today and I found myself a spot to stand on the top deck to enjoy the fresh air. The captain took the boat out to a location called Jeffrey’s Ledge. It took about 90 minutes to get there and we did find a few whales in the area (1 group). They didn’t breach, but still got to see a little bit of them at the surface.

It was going to be about 2:00-2:10 by the time the boat arrived back at the aquarium and I had booked the entry ticket for the aquarium for 3:00 PM, which didn’t give much time for lunch. I knew there was a nearby Panera Bread, so I used the mobile ordering system to order my lunch so it would be ready when I arrived. It worked out really well as I didn’t need to wait to decide what to order, or wait for the food to be made.

In addition to the grilled Mac and Cheese sandwich, which was good I had some French onion soup. It was a nice, quick lunch.
The next stop was the New England Aquarium, which was quite good, they had penguins and sea lions as well as all kinds of fish. Probably the best part was the petting area, where it was possible to touch stingrays and sharks. The stingrays came around much more often than the shark. In fact one stingray acted similar to a cat wanting to be touched.

I took the metro over to Cambridge where Harvard is located. It wasn’t possible to see much from the outside.
new state House, needed to change subway lines view from the subway when it was briefly above ground finally in Cambridge Harvard
I decided to try to get the to the Harvard Bridge for sunset. I took the metro because the bridge is close to M.I.T, not Harvard. Although I didn’t walk to the bridge I had a nice view of the city of Boston and the river as the sun was going down. I could see the CITGO sign near Fenway Park as well. The subway station for M.I.T. was interesting because the subway had one direction on top of the other.
the only interesting building at M.I.T.
For dinner I decided to go to a place called Tony C’s as the menu looked very interesting – and it was near the hotel. An added benefit was it was along the water of Boston Harbor.

I decided to try the Philly cheesesteak wontons and the pork potstickers. I wanted to try the Caribbean Jerk Chicken, but they were out of it today. I decided to have the salmon as plan B. The food was good and I really enjoyed the wontons.
Today’s timeline. Obviously the boat didn’t go across the land, but it gives you the general idea of today’s activities.
