Today the ship stopped in Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. I didn’t have much planned for today, so I took my time getting off the ship. I did enjoy watching the ship arrive and dock in the morning.

Before I got off the ship they made an announcement that another ship – Carnival Magic would be docking at the pier next to the Mardi Gras and they would temporarily shut down the gangway. I took the opportunity to record a video of the Magic backing in next to the Mardi Gras.
Back in my room I had yet another towel animal – a frog.

My main mission today was to fly the drone and get some aerial images of the Mardi Gras. Unfortunately as soon as I got off the ship there was a no drove sign on the pier, so I had to leave to port to fly.
It was very windy, so I only went up and down to get some photos and videos.
I explored the port area a little and got a passport stamp (not a real one) in my expired passport.

The pool and waterslides in the port are free and the zip line is only $20 for the entire day. I might try that next time I visit, $20 seems to be a reasonable price. They also had other equipment available to rent.

It was extremely hot so I went back to the ship to cool down.

I had lunch at the Lido Marketplace. I’m not one for buffets, but Carnival made this area very nice and I wanted to try the food.

The chorizo was not as spicy as I would have hoped. The paella and chicken was good.
I decided to go up to the Ropes Course while the ship was still in port. It was a nice view of both the port and the Carnival Magic. It really showed how much the Mardi Gras improved since the Carnival Magic. I took 2 laps around the course today.
I also decided to ride the Bolt, the first rollercoaster at sea. It was $15 for a single lap and there was no line. I don’t think it was really worth it, but I wanted to try it regardless. It had a seating position like a motorcycle and a boost button that gave 4 seconds of boost. One lap just wasn’t enough, it would have been much better for it to be 2 laps as it was originally planned to have.

I took a few more pictures of the area and enjoyed the sailaway from the back of deck 16/17. As well as recorded a video.

I walked over to JavaBlue Cafe and took some pictures of the free food options there. It looked good, but I didn’t try anything.

I had dinner in Flamingo, the main dining room again, mostly because they had baked onion soup. I also tried the wild rice, gruyere and country chicken soup. For my main I tried the shrimp creole and for dessert I had the praline cake. This was the first time I successfully had a sharing table.

I also enjoyed a couple more comedy shows before going to the Tiki Fest up on the Lido deck
