Today was my last day in New York City. My return flight is at 6:30 PM, so I have the morning to explore some more of the city, unfortunately it is rainy and it isn’t even possible to see the One World Trade building from my hotel room window. I swear it was there yesterday….

Same continental breakfast again this morning. At least it is good, but I am glad I am not staying for a long time eating the same breakfast for weeks.

Although it was raining I decided to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. It was a 40 minute subway ride to get there, but since it was still raining it wasn’t a big deal. It did stop raining about 15 minutes after I arrived. The park has features from a World’s Fair that was held in the 1960’s – including a large globe (Unisphere) and the UFO’s (observation towers) that was in the 1997 movie “Men in Black”. It was a nice park and I also found some mosaics and the Vatican pavillion.

Before getting back on the subway to go back to Manhattan I took a picture of the Mets stadium which is next to the park.

After taking the subway back to Manhattan I walked around Rockefeller Center and they had some Mexican artwork for Dios los Muertos.
While trying to think of something else to see I remembered the New York Public Library. I didn’t realize they had a small museum inside, but it was very nice. They had the stuffed animals that the Winnie the Pooh books were based on, a manuscript of one of Samuel Clemens (otherwise known as Mark Twain) books, and a huge work from Albrecht Durer. The upstairs of the library was magnificent.
It was now time to go back to the hotel to check out. I took a picture of the Chrysler Building on the way to the subway station.

Eventually I found my way to Penn Station and got a New Jersey Transit train ticket to Newark Airport. I just made the train that was leaving shortly after 3 PM. That gave me plenty of time to navigate the airport and take the airtrain to the terminal.
extra $7.75 included for the AirTrain… Airport train station
I checked in and got through security without any issues. I had some time for a lunch at the airport before boarding.
The flight was much less exciting than the flight to New York. The previous flight was not from Bogota this time so it was actually on time.
I managed to upgrade to the Economy Plus seating, there was a bit of a bulkhead in front of my seat, but it did offer extra legroom.
