This morning I captured a nice time lapse video arriving in Mazatlán, Mexico.
The ship sailed past the el Faro Lighthouse and then turned around in the small port. It was nice to see the shadow of the ship’s funnel at the pier.

I quickly ate some cereal for breakfast.
Since the port is more of a container port the port had trams to take the passengers to the gift shops at the port entrance/exit. It didn’t take long to get off the ship or to get the tram to the entrance.

Luckily the port entrance is on the side closer to the lighthouse that I planned to visit. I was afraid they would take us to the furthest most point (like in Italy to try and get you to pay for a taxi).

I walked over to the lighthouse – it was all flat land until I got to the hill with the lighthouse.

It cost $1.50 for the entrance ticket for the crystal observation platform.

I started walking up the ramp up the hill. I took my time and took some pictures on the way up. It wasn’t too bad until I started up the steps. The walk wasn’t that strenuous, but unlike yesterday when it was overcast and there was shade it was a clear day and the sun was just beating down. I was sweating profusely.

About halfway up there was a racoon.

Eventually I made it to the top of the hill. I took some pictures of the city from the viewpoint. Some crazy girl was dressed up (I assume for a quinceanera photo). I don’t have an explanation for what people do for Instagram…

There was a group with a tour guide at the top. I walked over to the crystal viewing platform. There wasn’t a line to go on the platform, but you do need to remove your shoes.

The platform didn’t really extend over the water, but it was a nice viewpoint nonetheless.

There were a bunch of large birds gliding around the hill. Despite this being the only location far enough away from the airport to fly my drone I decided not to fly just in case the birds decided to attack it.

Rather than walk directly back I decided to take a more scenic route to Malecon and then back across to the port.

There was a slight hill to climb to get to Malecon along the cliff, but it wasn’t very difficult.
I took some photos at the Malecon before walking through a residential neighborhood back to the ship. There was still time to explore, but I didn’t want to kill myself.

When I returned to my cabin I had a new towel animal.

I worked up an appetite, so I had another Funderstruck Nacho burger from Guy’s burger joint.

It was 80’s night tonight and they had a special design on the funnel.

I set up the GoPro for a time lapse when leaving Mazatlán.
I recorded some videos while going through the Ropes course and the SkyRide. I was worried that they may be shut down do to wind or weather the next couple of days and didn’t want to miss the opportunity. The Ropes course was much shorter than the one on the Mardi Gras, but it was still enjoyable. The last ride I took on the SkyRide was just as the ship was leaving port. It was a bit trippy as although I was going forward it looked like I was going backwards. I got a great video of the scenery (no need to look forward – the bicycle is on a track).
I got a few photos while the ship left Mazatlán.

For dinner I ate at the main dining room again. I had French Onion soup for my starter and I tried the pork ribs. The ribs were acceptable, but not the best I’ve had. I made the mistake of trying the no sugar added option for dessert. Luckily I also asked for ice cream.

They had an 80’s deck party tonight and gave out LED flashing wands for people to dance with.
