I thought about waking up at 1:30am for the Haleakala sunrise, but I was pretty tired from yesterday’s circumnavigation of Haleakala.
I got a reasonable start to the morning. I attempted to order an Uber, but port security wouldn’t let them in. I took a taxi to the Maui Beach Hotel where I parked the rental car.
From there I drove to the summit of Haleakala. Along the way I stopped for great views of Maui.

At the top I was literally above the clouds. It was like being in an airplane. I could also see the big island from the summit.

More information on the Silversword plant:
I attempted to do a short hike, but visibility was poor. At the next viewpoint it cleared up temporarily to be able to see inside the volcano.

As I started down the volcano the skies opened up and visibility was poor. I was glad I got at least a couple of photos on the way up the mountain of Maui because I wasn’t getting any on the way down.

I returned the rental car and took an Uber back to the ship with plenty of time to spare.

After I returned to the ship I went to the Cadillac Diner for lunch. I got chicken wings, and a tuna melt.

Before the ship departed I took a few pictures of Maui.

For dinner I went to the Brazilian restaurant. It was very smoky inside and the meat wasn’t so great. I didn’t take any photos because I’d have to take a picture of every single piece of meat they gave me.
