Disembarkation day in Vancouver. I spent about a whole hour in Canada since I cleared US immigration at the airport.
Time to enjoy the last day on the ship while cruising the scenic Inside Passage – and watching whales, well at least one whale.
A short visit to Ketchikan Alaska and the northern lights at sea at night.
Chasing rainbows in Skagway, Alaska. Well didn’t need to chase too hard, they just appeared. And a bear as well.
A spectacular day cruising the breathtaking Tracy Arm Fjord. It couldn’t get much better with large chunks of ice floating, turquoise water and wispy clouds clinging to the side of the fjord. Oh and we also visited Juneau, the capital of Alaska.
Enjoying nature in Icy Strait Point
Almost another visit to Hubbard Glacier, Alaska. It turned into a visit to a fog bank.
A soggy and foggy day in Seward, Alaska. The end of the first cruise, but the beginning of the second.
Amazing views of Hubbard Glacier, in Alaska
A spectacular day cruising in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska. Beautiful mountains and glaciers.
Two trips up the Klondike Highway to Canada on a scenic summit drive from Skagway, Alaska. Waterfalls, mountains and glaciers surround the city.
A beautiful day in Juneau, Alaska. A little hiking on top of Mount Roberts and a scenic tram (gondola) ride.
Ketchikan, Alaska, Lions, Tigers & Bears, Oh My… well there were Bears and Salmon, no Lions or Tigers in Alaska (unless Mike Tyson moved here from Vegas)
Today was supposed to be scenic cruising of the inside passage, but the ship passed most of the scenic part at night. It was still a nice sea day and a chance to relax.
Embarkation day in Vancouver. I left Canada without leaving Canada. The ship was in port until 5 PM while I officially entered the United States at 11:30 AM.
Disembarkation from the Diamond Princess in Kobe Japan before taking the train to Kyoto. As I have been to Kyoto before I decided to go to the train museum before heading to the Gion district and more temples.
Sea Day and final day on the Diamond Princess
Sea Day and Formal Night on the Diamond Princess.
The last port day of the third and last cruise on the Diamond Princess was a stop in beautiful Keelung, Taiwan. This port is nearby Taipei, but I used my time to explore Keelung rather than see a big city. Today’s adventure included Zhouzheng Park, Zhupu Altar, Heping Island Park and the night market.
Two islands for the price of one – Ishigaki and Taketomi. Ishigaki had a 400 year old temple and Taketomi had water buffalo.
