End of the line. Time to leave Kyoto. I took the Haruka train from Kyoto to Osaka Kansai airport to fly to Oman through Thailand.

2021 Boston, Massachusetts – Day 5 [Return Flight]
Return flight to Houston from Boston.
Houston to NY…
The annual Festive season trip is under way. I was lucky enough to get round trip flights to Ithaca, NY for 29,500 miles yesterday, otherwise you’d be reading about a very long drive instead of the flights on United. I left the house at 4:50 AM. I parked at Parking Spot 2 at 5:42 AM…
Doha, Qatar to Houston, TX
This morning I left very early 0630 flight. The corniche was closed due to a sporting event, so the Uber to the airport needed to take an alternate route. My seat to London… Picked specifically at the bulkhead to avoid climbing over someone’s legs or having them climb over me. The waffle was not very…
Muscat, Oman to Doha, Qatar
Today I flew from Muscat, Oman to Doha, Qatar on Oman Air. I took a picture of West bay along the corniche while in the Uber. I am staying at the Marriott Marquis as usual. It’s very nice and connects to the City Centre mall, which is very convenient when the temperature outside is 50°C.
Houston to Abu Dhabi
I am traveling to Abu Dhabi today (luckily before the British Airways industrial action which cancelled many flights).
Geneva, Switzerland to Houston, TX
Today I am returning to Houston. The Day started fine, woke up on time, returned the rental car, got the shuttle bus to the airport, but when I checked in it started going bad. My London to Houston boarding pass has the “SSSS” on it. After boarding the flight to London the captain announced a…
Doha, Qatar to Geneva, Switzerland
A simple overnight flight on Qatar Airways. Tomorrow I’ll be arriving in Geneva and then driving to Lyon, France.
Return from Doha, Qatar
When I checked in for my flight this morning I was disappointed… I got the special ‘SSSS’ on my LHR-IAH flight. For those who don’t know what that means, it’s the supposedly randomly selected security screening which is performed at the gate. My visa stamp… I thought this shot through the vinyl on the jet…
Houston to Doha, Qatar
I’m off to Doha, Qatar today. I’m flying on British Airways to London and then Qatar Airways to Qatar. Surprisingly enough the queue at TSA was very short even though the government shutdown means they are working without getting paid. The British Airways flight is a nice Boeing 787-9 which is good because my eyes…
Houston to New York…
The annual Christmas pilgrimage… I’m flying into Buffalo because the rental car is cheaper and there were more options to get back to Houston. I volunteered for a later flight and bid the maximum 40,000 miles, I doubt I’ll be bumped, but if I do it will be worth it…. this round trip ticket was…
Germany and Czech Republic Day 8 [Prague, Czech Republic to Munich, Germany]
My last day to explore Prague… I checked out of the hotel at around 0800 (sunrise) and left my luggage at the hotel. I walked to Charles Bridge first to take photos since the only other time I visited I didn’t make it across the bridge before I lost light. I walked to the Astronomical…
Germany and Czech Republic – Day 2 [Amsterdam to Hannover to Hameln]
I arrived early on my flight from Houston, so I didn’t need to rush through the Schipol airport. My flight to Hannover was on a puddle jumper, but I was only on it for about 45 minutes. After arriving I got my luggage and walked to the train station… where you would expect to find…
Germany and Czech Republic- Day 1
I’m flying on KLM through Amsterdam to Hannover, Germany. After arriving in Hannover I will take a train for an hour until I reach Hameln, Germany. Eventually I’ll arrive in Prague, Czech Republic before taking a long train to Wolfrathausen, Germany and flying back from Munich, Germany. As you can see the seat makes you…
Australia and New Zealand Cruise – Day 18 [Departure from Auckland, New Zealand]
I woke up this morning, had a wonderful breakfast in the morning at the hotel and wandered down Queen Street for a bit. I found a shop with $10NZD shirts and bought a couple. They had a hilarious ‘Fake News’ game on sale. I missed the Christmas parade and took the SkyBus to the airport….
Australia & New Zealand Cruise – Day 1 & 2
I call it day 1 & 2 because I’m flying from Houston at 8:30 PM on Nov 15th and arrive in Sydney on Nov 17th at 7:00 AM due to the international time line. I used miles to fly to Sydney, so I’ve flown more miles for free on United on this one flight alone…
150,000 miles
I just got this email today… I think that’s the most I’ve flown on a single airline.
Round the world… segment 2 LHR (London) to AUH (Abu Dhabi)
The food available in the British Airways lounge was not very good. You might have noticed… my ticket says British Airways, but the plane says Air Belgium. I’m not exactly sure why, but British Airways has wet leased the plane including the flight attendants and pilots from Air Belgium. The…
Round the world… IAH (Houston) to LHR (London) segment
Today I leave on my first segment of my trip that will literally take me around the world. IAH-LHR & LHR-AUH British Airways and Air Belgium (wet leased to BA) DXB-HKG & HKG-HND Cathay Pacific NRT-MEX & MEX-IAH AeroMexico I never did get breakfast… The…
Cuba cruise, Day 1 [Houston to Port Canaveral]
I managed to finish packing last night. I always wait until the last minute…. 0330 alarm clock, left for the airport at 0430, arrived at the parking spot at 0530. I was in through security by 0555… one of benefits of traveling on a holiday is that there is no traffic. I used one of…
