Leaving on a jet plane (okay, so it is technically a “turbofan” engine and not a jet). I departed Houston this morning and flew to Amsterdam via Dallas on American Airlines.

2021 Royal Caribbean International’s Odyssey of the Seas Inaugural Cruise – Day 3 [Disembarkation]
Time to leave this beautiful new ship. I had a quick snack at breakfast and took a few last minute photos. Unlike the Carnival Mardi Gras the pool chairs were not overrun by towel critters. I took the free shuttle bus to the Miami airport and flew back to Houston on Southwest Airlines.
2021 Royal Caribbean International’s Odyssey of the Seas Inaugural Cruise – Day 2 [Perfect Day at Cococay, Bahamas]
A beautiful day in the Bahamas. I started the day with a Q&A session for travel agents. I took the opportunity to play with the bumper cars before visiting the waterpark at Thrill Island. I tested out all the waterslides, including North America’s tallest waterslide – Daredevils’ Peak. I explored all of what the island had to offer and then came back to the ship for a couple of shows and dinner. The night ended with a silent party.

A very busy day. It started with a flight from Houston to Fort Lauderdale. Once onboard the Odyssey of the Seas I enjoyed a delicious surf and turf lunch, explored a large variety of cabins and watched the naming ceremony. After the naming ceremony I enjoyed two high tech live shows and another fabulous dinner (surf and turf again).

A day at the beach in the Bahamas. I spent the day relaxing on the Scarlet Lady and the Beach Club at Bimini.

Another relaxing sea day. Dinner at the steakhouse. And an interesting Scarlet Night.
2021 Virgin Voyages Cruise – Day 4 [Day 3 of Cruise – Costa Maya, Mexico]
The first port visit – Costa Maya, Mexico. I took advantage of the stop to visit some Mayan ruins at Chacchoben. I had dinner at the Korean BBQ restaurant onboard and played Dodgeball.

The first full day on the Scarlet Lady. Rockstar for a few minutes (toured Rockstar Suites), and dinner at the Mexican restaurant.

Embarkation day on the Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady. After waiting for hours to board I managed to find free champagne at the pool deck to soften the disappointment. A new dining experience and evening sailaway from Miami.

2021 Carnival Mardi Gras Eastern Caribbean Cruise – Day 9 [Disembarkation and return to Houston]
It’s time for my trip to come to an end. I easily disembark the ship and walk across the street from the port to take photos and videos of the ship with the drone. An easy shuttle from the cruise terminal to the airport gave me plenty of time to relax at the airport before my flight.
2021 Carnival Mardi Gras Eastern Caribbean Cruise – Day 8 [Nassau, Bahamas]
Today the ship visited Nassau. In fact it was the only ship in port. I intended to visit Fincastle Fort, but it was closed. I did manage to sneak around the outside of the fort. I wandered around the shopping area near the fort and briefly flew the drone.

The last Fun Day At Sea. More adventure on the Ropes course, comedy shows, and a fancy alcoholic drink.
2021 Carnival Mardi Gras Eastern Caribbean Cruise – Day 6 [Amber Cove, Dominican Republic]
Today the ship visited the Dominican Republic. The port area was built specifically for Carnival and is called Amber Cove. There is a nice pool area and some activities in the port area. I also went on the Ropes course on the ship and rode the first rollercoaster at sea, the Bolt.
2021 Carnival Mardi Gras Eastern Caribbean Cruise – Day 5 [San Juan, Puerto Rico]
Today was the ship’s first port call, and technically the ship hasn’t left America yet (though it did sail through international waters) as we are visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico today which is a US territory. I visited a couple of Spanish forts and enjoyed the Spanish Colonial architecture.
